Vail Cienega kicker Jason Cox has gotten his first two offers. South Dakota School of Mines and Southwestern College (NAIA) have recently offered. Cox, who was all state this year, is also weighing several other options including walking on at some D1 schools.

Scottsdale Chaparral wideout Zach Buzzard committed to Holy Cross out of the Patriot League yesterday. Buzzard made an official trip to the FCS school this past weekend. Buzzard’s great academic resume set him up for entry into this prestigious academic institution.

While things are starting to wind down for 2012, things are just beginning for some 2013 standouts.

There have been nearly 10 in the class that are already holding offers, but a few that will join the next wave are:

Grant Martinez TE Scottsdale Notre Dame- Martinez has had a number of schools speak with him at school. Those showing early interest include Boise State, Oregon State and Stanford.

Andrew Curtis LB Phoenix Brophy- The 6 foot 2, 216 pounder was paid a visit today by Oregon who indicated that they will have an offer for him soon. Boise also has shown interest and other offers from Penn State and possibly Michigan State are likely forthcoming. Curtis has started since soph year for the Broncos.

Robert Relf SS Phoenix Brophy- The 6 foot 3, 195 pounder is also starting to get considerable interest that will likely lead to an avalanche of offers. Boise has shown the most interest.

Chandler HS DB Laron Tarkington will likely choose between Colorado Pueblo and Colorado Mesa (formerly Mesa State).

Anthem Boulder Creek OL Beau Kitson is likely to commit to Western New Mexico over Colorado Pueblo.

Peoria Centennial LB Brennan Franklin is visiting Colorado Pueblo and Colorado Mesa this weekend. He also has strong interest from Weber State and Robert Morris (both FCS schools) and has a host of walk on invites to include SEC power Arkansas and Arizona State.

Scottsdale Chaparral’s Davonte Neal is having a surprise home visit tonight from Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops and Tim Kish, both recently at Arizona. Neal will host North Carolina and Arkansas tonight as well. Tomorrow Ohio State’s Urban Meyer pays a visit and Thursday it will be Notre Dame with the final home visit before signing day. Neal will travel to North Carolina this weekend for his final official visit before signing day. He has previously announced that his decision will come after signing day and after an official visit to Arizona and possibly an unofficial visit to Arizona State.

Scottsdale Chaparral prolific WR Zach Buzzard, has been offered by Holy Cross and will make an official visit this weekend. Holy Cross, a member of the very strong academic Patriot League could be a perfect match for Buzzard who is an outstanding student.

On a day when teammate and fellow LB Spencer Hammitt made Air Force his college choice, now comes word that fellow Glendale Mountain Ridge backers Alex Mugar and Taylor Rockwood have made their choices as well.

The duo has committed to D2 power Colorado Pueblo today, a school that ranked No 1 in the nation for most of the year. They will likely join a host of other Arizona signees as the school has been very aggressive this year in and around the valley.

Patience paid off for Anthem Boulder Creek’s Marquis Bundy.

The 6 foot 4, 195 WR had been waiting since last spring for a D1 offer to come his way but nothing materialized. Instead, FCS power Montana came a calling along with a host of other FCS schools. And after visiting Montana in the fall, Bundy pledged his allegiance.

But when New Mexico hired Bob Davie late, it opened a new possibility for Bundy and things paid off. The receiver got an offer from Bundy this past Wednesday during a school visit by the former Notre Dame head coach and during his official visit this weekend, he made a commitment to Albuquerque school for the next four years.

In the end, the opportunity to play D1 football was too much to pass up.
