ASU reconfirms offer to Brophy duo

Late word is that Arizona State has re-offered Phoenix Brophy 2013 duo of QB Tyler Bruggman and WR Devon Allen.

The standouts were originally offered by former ASU coach Dennis Erickson but were unsure when new coach Todd Graham took over in mid December what the status of their offers were.

ASU has now left no doubt the prolific combo will be high priorities in next year’s recruiting class.

 

Farria gets sixth offer

Peoria Centennial DE Marcus Farria will be one of the most heavily recruited defensive players in the nation in 2013.

Thursday afternoon he picked up his biggest offer to date when Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly and two assistants visited Centennial and offered the 6 foot 4, 230 pounder.

Farria is now already holding offers from Washington, San Diego State, Colorado, Arkansas, Arizona and now Notre Dame and the 2012 class hasn’t even reached signing day yet.

 

Willis gets another offer

2013 elite prospect Priest Willis, a 6 foot 3, 200 pound DB was offered by Arizona today. This offer is added to ones that have already come in from Arizona State and Purdue for the Tempe Marcos De Niza talent.

Willis will be a top 5 prospect in Arizona for 2013 and will be heavily recruited nationally.

 

Bundy gets D1 offer

Anthem Boulder Creek WR Marquis Bundy, who committed to FCS power Montana during the football season, just received his first D1 offer.

Newly minted New Mexico coach Bob Davie paid a visit to Anthem this morning and offered the 6 foot 4, 195 standout. This is in advance of an official trip this coming weekend to Albuquerque.

Phoenix Desert Vista LB Michael Arredondo is also making a visit to New Mexico this weekend where it is expected that he will also receive an offer.

More suitors for Franklin

Already scheduled for a visit this coming weekend to Toledo, things are starting to pick up for all state linebacker Brennan Franklin from Peoria Centennial.

UTEP is starting to showed renewed interest, while FCS schools Weber State, Robert Morris and Eastern Kentucky have jumped into the mix.

The 6 foot 1.5, 210 LB got lost in the shuffle this past spring while he was still enrolled at Phoenix St. Mary’s. After a huge senior year, Franklin is starting to get on the map nationally.

Most recently into the mix might be ASU. Coach Ball visited Centennial on Tuesday and indicated to Franklin there might be a roster spot for him depending on how things go with some previous commits.

Neal still uncertain

Scottsdale Chaparral star wideout Davonte Neal is fresh off his official visit to Ohio State. This coming weekend, the 5 foot 10, 175 pounder will visit Arkansas.

Also this week, Neal is scheduled to have a home visit from Arizona and North Carolina with a possible home visit next with Arizona State.

Thus far, Neal has made an official trips to Notre Dame and Washington with one date still open. The WR will likely go past signing day before announcing his intentions.

Bundy getting late interest

Anthem Boulder Creek receiver Marquis Bundy, once a solid commit to Montana, is not open to other offers with coaching changes at Montana. While he has not de-commited, New Mexico has jumped into the picture very late.

The Lobos’ new Head C oach Bob Davie will be in town on Wednesday to pay Bundy a visit in advance of his official visit this coming weekend. Bundy does not have an offer yet but one is expected either Wednesday or this weekend as he has been told he is now their No 1 outside (receiver) choice.

Jaxon Hood gains another major offer

Chandler Hamilton’s Jaxon Hood, regarded by many as the defensive player of the year in Arizona, has garnered an offer by hometown Arizona State today.

The 6 foot 0, 285 DT, who has given a previous soft commitment to Boston College, also is holding offers from Washington State and Air Force.

 

 

Updated recruiting news

Been knee deep in the holidays and recruiting so the blog has been neglected but here goes on some catchup stuff:

Jaxon Hood- After playing well in the Marine All American Game, the standout DT from Chandler Hamilton got an offer from Arizona and new coach Rich Rodriguez.

Ken Linser- The 2011 two way linemen for Phoenix Northwest Christian parlayed a nice fall season at Phoenix College into a scholarship from Eastern Michigan. He will take part in spring ball there.

Gary Ross- The former 2011 Peoria Centennial star will be back at Phoenix College after skipping his frosh year. After participating in the summer at PC, Ross has some personal issues to deal with and didn’t play. He is re-enrolling at PC and will look to get back on track.

Beau Kitson- Anthem Boulder Creek OL was offered by Fort Lewis (D2) last night and will be taking trips to Colorado Pueblo and likely Mesa State who have offered.

Brennan Franklin- The first team all state linebacker out of Peoria Centennial has set an official trip to Toledo on January 21st.

Lucas Petrullo- The Scottsdale Chaparral RB/LB is scheduled to visit the University of San Diego on Jan 14th. Petrullo missed most of the season with a broken foot but came back to be very productive and help lead his team to its third straight state championship.

Tommy Prichard- The All State honorable mention TE out of Cave Creek Cactus Shadows is getting strong interest from D2 power St. Cloud State.

Becerra Commits

One of the most talented all-around athletes in Arizona’s 2012 class has made his choice.

Mesa Desert Ridge’s Jordan Becerra, who played QB, WR and DB has decided to take his game to Harvard in the fall.

Becerra likely be playing DB or slot receiver for the 2011 Ivy League champion Crimson, a program that is dominant year in and year out.

While he had several suitors, Air Force pushed really hard for the 5 foot 10, 175 pound speedster.
